Tualatin Valley Highway Transit and Safety Project
Summary
TriMet's 16.2-mile BRT line from Beaverton to Forest Grove is now pegged at $284 million, with diesel buses instead of electric because the Merlo garage can't handle them. Service could open in 2030 with 12-minute headways and safer, better-lit stations.

City Council (Closed) - May 4, 2026
Six fatalities between Hillsboro and Cornelius in 2017-2020 drove a road safety audit, and residents and council are still worried. The new flashing beacon causes dangerous left turns from the manufactured home park, speeds remain high despite the temporary 35 mph zone, and council wants full traffic signals at 345th and 334th plus better lighting and mid-block crossing barriers.
