3 issues in water utilities with high priority
Corvallis Road Waterline Project Completion
The long-running Corvallis Road waterline project is basically done, improving both water infrastructure and the roadway. It was paid for with congressionally directed funding secured through Congresswoman Salinas' office.
Regional water treatment plant funding
The mayor's D.C. lobbying trip paid off — the city is on the congressional list for up to $5 million in funding for Phase 1 of the new regional water treatment plant, which could shrink the hit to water ratepayers on a $45-55 million project.
Failing water and sewer infrastructure
Big projects moving forward: the regional water treatment plant (with a Congresswoman Salinas federal funding request), the fully funded Corvallis Road waterline (done by August 2026), the wastewater treatment plant upgrade (bids came in on target), and the Ninth Street pump station on a grant. The city will also pay off two water bonds early, saving about $110,000 in interest.
